Uzbekistan was elected to the UN Economic and Social Council for the first time

The elections of the members of the UN Economic and Social Council for 2025-2027 were held at the headquarters in New York. For the first time in its history, Uzbekistan was elected to the UN Economic and Social Council by 185 votes.

The elections of the members of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for 2025-2027 were held on June 7, 2024 in New York. Uzbekistan received 185 votes in the elections and for the first time in its history took the place of the SCO.

UZBEKISTAN'S REFORMS HAVE RECEIVED INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION

In a statement, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said: "The election of our country to this key UN body is proof that the progressive reforms carried out in all spheres under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan are widely recognized by the international community and the UN member states."

THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COUNCIL

This body, responsible for coordinating the economic and social activities of the United Nations, works on three issues: economic, social and environmental. The Council consists of 54 members elected for a three-year term.
