It was noted that the price per cubic meter of natural gas purchased by Uzbekistan from Russia is lower than that of Turkey and China

According to the Russian newspaper Kommersant, Uzbekistan buys gas from Russia at a lower price than from Turkey and China.

According to Kommersant, last year Uzbekistan bought 1,000 cubic meters of natural gas from Russia for $160. This price is lower than the average selling price of Russian gas to both Turkey and China.

According to the publication, Uzbekistan purchased natural gas from Russia in 2023 at a price of $ 160 per 1,000 cubic meters.

According to Kommersant, prices for gas supplied to Uzbekistan are significantly lower than average sales prices to both Turkey (about $270-280 per 1,000 cubic meters) and China ($260-270).

However, Sergey Kondratiev from the Institute of Energy and Finance notes that the current price allows Gazprom to make a profit of $ 20-22 per 1,000 cubic meters.

Kondratiev believes that in the context of a decrease in domestic gas production, 11 billion cubic meters will be enough for Uzbekistan to fulfill an export contract to China (10 billion cubic meters are reported).

"In my opinion, in order for Uzbekistan to be able to export 5-6 billion cubic meters to China by 2030, it will have to increase imports to 15-18 billion cubic meters. Of course, in this case we are talking not only about supplies from Russia, but also about increasing imports from Turkmenistan," he said.
