The XII International Symposium on Traditional Sports Games of the Turkic Peoples was held in Kyrgyzstan
The 12th International Symposium on Traditional Sports Games of the Turkic Peoples was held at the Kyrgyz-Turkish University "Manas" (KTMU), operating in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.
The symposium was held in the Kasym Tynystanov Conference Hall on the campus of Chingiz Aitmatov University.
In his opening speech, the Rector of KTMU, Professor Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan, said that the symposium is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Republic of Turkey.
Ceylan said that the university's sports facilities will host traditional sports games organized by the Union of Turkish Universities, part of the Organization of Turkic States (OTG).
Acting Rector Dr. Bakargul Kalavekova stated that representatives of 14 countries took part in the symposium and said: "We are very pleased to participate in this."
Head of the Department of Sports and Physical Culture of Kyrgyzstan Aibek Abdymomunov thanked the World Confederation of Ethnosport for its contribution to the recognition of traditional sports and games.
The acting dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences of KTMU, Professor Kanat Zhanuzakov, recalled that the first symposium was held in 2014, and explained that their goal is to popularize and preserve the sport of the ancestors of the Turkic world with a population of 250 million people.
The symposium dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Republic of Turkey is being held with the support of the World Ethnosport Confederation, chaired by Bilal Erdogan.
