President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev reported on the historical role of the first President Nursultan Nazarbayev in strengthening the foundations of the state.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke at the state awards ceremony, which was held at the Presidential Palace of Akorda on the eve of the Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Noting that on October 25, Republic Day is the most important holiday of the country, Tokayev said: "This is the day when our state was revived, dating back to the period of the Turkic khaganates, the Golden Horde and the Kazakh Khanate."

Recalling that the "declaration of sovereignty" was adopted 33 years ago, which laid the foundations of independent Kazakhstan, Tokayev said: "It was not easy to adopt the declaration at that time. The ethnic and demographic structure of our country was complex," he said.

Noting that important constitutional reforms have been implemented in the country over the past two years, Tokayev stressed that a "fair" Kazakhstan is being built now and we should not forget the names that contributed to the development of the country along this path.

Reminding those who worked on the formation of independent Kazakhstan, Tokayev said: "It would be right to pay attention to the historical role of the first President Nursultan Nazarbayev, who made a great contribution to strengthening the foundations of our country as an independent state."

Stating that the people of Kazakhstan should present their unified image to the world in the face of all difficulties, Tokayev called on the people to work to protect sovereignty and ensure peace and stability in the country.

Noting that they continue to work on the adoption of democratic principles, Tokayev stressed the importance of ensuring law and order in the country and said: "We will definitely stop all kinds of words and actions that contradict the law, split society and damage the stability of our country."
