The EU and Kyrgyzstan have signed a cooperation agreement

The European Union (EU) has signed an Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA) with Kyrgyzstan to strengthen bilateral relations.

According to the statement of the EU External Relations Service, within the framework of the agreement, cooperation will be carried out in the fields of trade, investment, sustainable development, research, innovation, education, environmental protection, combating climate change, as well as rules of law, human rights and civil society participation.

The agreement is aimed at strengthening cooperation in foreign and security policy, such as conflict prevention, crisis management, cybersecurity, ensuring regional stability, disarmament and arms export control.

The agreement also paves the way for cooperation in areas such as the extraction and processing of critical raw materials important for green and digital transformation.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrel expressed satisfaction with the agreement and noted that the agreement demonstrates the EU's determination to strengthen and deepen bilateral relations with Kyrgyzstan "based on common values and common interests in all mutually beneficial areas." .

"We will continue to work with Kyrgyzstan to further strengthen the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms, as well as to develop cooperation with civil society, which is the fundamental foundation of a transparent democratic society," Borrel said.
