Tajikistan intends to fully provide its electricity from "green" sources by 2032

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahman noted that they attach special importance to increasing the use of renewable resources in energy production in the country, and stated that they strive to ensure all electricity generation in the country from "green" energy sources by 2032.

According to the Office of the President of Tajikistan, Rahman took part in the International Water Conference held in Dushanbe.

In his speech here, Rahman noted that they are stepping up efforts to ensure his country's transition to a green economy, and stressed that water plays an important role in achieving this goal.

Stating that more than 98 percent of Tajikistan's electricity is currently produced by hydroelectric power plants, Rahman said: "We aim to increase this figure to 100 percent by 2032, that is, to ensure electricity production entirely from green energy sources."

Rahman stated that they attach special importance to cross-border cooperation on water issues, and in this context, his country is ready to further strengthen regional cooperation in Central Asia and constructive dialogue towards solving water problems.

Noting that in recent years there have been problems with water in the world, in addition to climate change, Rahman added that water is not only a resource, but also plays an important role in energy and food production, industrial development, environmental sustainability and other areas.
