President of Kazakhstan Tokayev: "The volume of mutual trade of the member countries of the OTG in 2024 exceeded $ 45 billion"

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that trade relations between the members of the Organization of Turkic States (CIS) have significantly strengthened: "In 2024, the volume of mutual trade between the member countries of the OTG will exceed $ 45 billion."

In an interview with the Kazakh newspaper Anatili, Tokayev made statements about his country's foreign policy in relations with the member countries of the TG, Russia, China and the United States.

Recalling that Kazakhstan participated in the creation of the OTA, Tokayev said: "The countries that are members of the Organization of Turkic States are our neighbors and important geopolitical partners."

Tokayev noted the intensification of cooperation in the political, trade, economic, transport, logistics, cultural and humanitarian fields in the space of the OTG, which they became chairman of last year: "More than 80 specific projects have been implemented. The V World Nomad Games were organized in Astana. Close ties have been established between educational and scientific institutions. Ancient Turkestan, declared the spiritual capital of the Turkic world in 2021, plays a special role in bringing our peoples closer together."

"We aim to increase cooperation in the fields of energy, industry, agriculture and digitalization"

Noting that over the past 10 years, trade relations between the members of the TG have significantly strengthened, Tokayev said: "In 2024, the volume of mutual trade between the TG member countries exceeded $ 45 billion. Our countries play an important role in the implementation of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor (Middle Corridor). We aim to increase cooperation in the fields of energy, industry, agriculture and digitalization."

Noting that the term of the presidency of the TG is working under the slogan "The Turkic Era", Tokayev said: "Kazakhstan supports all creative initiatives that will contribute to the rapprochement of the Turkic world. Our country will continue to deepen ties between all Turkic peoples and promote our common rich historical and cultural heritage."

Kazakh President Tokayev noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin perfectly understands the importance of his country as the largest economy in Central Asia: "Therefore, Russia is actively working with Kazakhstan to develop trade, economic and investment cooperation. It cannot be otherwise, because our countries have the longest common land border in the world."

Explaining that he also met with newly elected US President Donald Trump, Tokayev said: "I can easily say that the United States has a positive attitude towards Kazakhstan as an important strategic partner. We have agreed to maintain high-level political working relations," he said.
