OTS Welcomes Border Agreement Signed Between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan

Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, announced that the border demarcation agreement signed between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan has been welcomed with satisfaction.

In a written statement, Secretary General Omuraliev emphasized that this milestone, achieved through diplomacy and dialogue, paves the way for lasting peace, stability, and prosperity in Central Asia and beyond.
Omuraliev reiterated that the OTS stands ready to support all efforts aimed at strengthening fraternal ties and regional harmony. He expressed satisfaction with the border demarcation agreement signed between the two countries yesterday in Bishkek.

Border Agreement Signed Between the Two Countries

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met in Bishkek and signed the border agreement between their respective countries.


The agreement resolved a long-standing border dispute that had persisted since 1991. As part of this process, control points on the Kyzyl-Bel and Kairagach highways were inaugurated via video conference.

Turkey also welcomed the border demarcation agreement signed between the two countries.
In a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was noted:


"We welcome the border demarcation agreement signed between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. We hope that this agreement, reached through close dialogue at the highest level between the two countries, will contribute to peace, stability, and cooperation in the region."
