Montenegro's goal is to have full membership in the EU

The Minister of Diaspora of Montenegro, Mirsad Azemovich, said that they want to complete and finish negotiations on joining the European Union (EU).

Minister Azemovic met with Minister for Human Rights and Refugees Sevlid Hurtic in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he is on an official visit.

During the meeting, the rights of Bosniaks and Montenegrins living in the two countries were discussed, and a cooperation agreement was signed to work on this issue.

In his statement, Mirsad Azemovic said that the Bosnian party participated in the formation of the government of Montenegro as a coalition partner.

Pointing out that when they joined the government, they acted with the aim of full membership in the EU, Azemovich said:

"We want to complete the EU accession negotiations and officially put an end to this process. EU membership is one of the priorities on the Bosnian Party's agenda. The rule of law, the protection of minority rights and all issues related to minorities, and, of course, good-neighborly relations with the region are also among these priorities. This is the agenda that the Bosnian Party has been hatching since its foundation and implementing step by step."

Azemovic said that the most important decision taken by the Bosnian party in its 18-year history was the decision to join the government.

Stating that they act taking into account the interests of Bosniaks living in Montenegro, Azemovic said: "Travel to the EU can be neither high-quality nor fast without the participation of all the peoples living in Montenegro. Bosnians are known as a people of tolerance and peace. We are developing these relations, and this is in line with the basic principles of the EU."
