Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov said: "The current situation in the world and in the region requires joint efforts not only in combating security threats, but also in maintaining peace and stability."

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov spoke at a meeting of leaders in a narrow format on the eve of the summit of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.

Noting that they discussed topical issues of international and regional security, Zhaparov said: "The current situation in the world and in the region requires joint efforts not only in combating security threats, but also in maintaining peace and stability."

The chairmanship of the CSTO passes to Kyrgyzstan

In his speech at the summit of the CSTO Collective Security Council, Zhaparov recalled that in 2025 the CSTO presidency would pass to Kyrgyzstan and stressed that "his country will make all necessary efforts to ensure the development of the organization."

Noting plans to increase the effectiveness of the organization's military-economic cooperation, Zhaparov said that the CSTO intends to pay special attention to continuing dialogue with international organizations and third countries in areas of mutual interest in order to strengthen the role of the CSTO in maintaining peace and security.

Zhaparov noted that they will contribute to deepening cooperation with the relevant structures of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the fight against international terrorism.

Noting that special attention will be paid to the development of practical cooperation, Zhaparov said that in 2025, Kyrgyzstan intends to hold an international conference on cybersecurity.
