Kazakhstan voted "for" the construction of a nuclear power plant according to exit polls

In a referendum held in Kazakhstan to decide whether the people would build the country's first nuclear power plant, the majority of voters answered "yes," according to exit polls.

According to the first exit polls, which were broadcast live on TV channels in Kazakhstan, the turnout in the referendum was 67.3 percent, according to polls conducted by the Institute for Integrated Social Research "Socis-A".

69.8 percent of voters voted "yes" and supported the construction of a nuclear power plant in the country, while 30.2 percent said "no".

According to exit polls conducted by the Institute of Public Policy of the ruling Amanat party among 44,160 voters at 300 polling stations, 72.3 percent voted in favor and 27.7 percent voted against.

The Institute of Eurasian Integration also conducted an exit poll with the participation of 30,000 voters. Accordingly, 71.8 percent of voters supported the construction of a nuclear power plant in the country, while 28.2 percent opposed it.

This morning, the people of Kazakhstan went to the polls to decide whether to build the country's first nuclear power plant.

A total of 10,323 polling stations were established in the country, the voting process began at 07:00 and ended at 20:00 local time.

According to the preliminary results of the work of the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan, 7,820,918 (63.87 percent) out of 12,244,683 voters came to the polling stations for the referendum.

To the question "Do you agree to the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan?" in the referendum, the voters answered "yes" or "no".

The final results of the referendum will be announced by the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan within 7 days.
