According to the statement of the Presidium of the Republic of Kazakhsta n, President Akayev was presented with an annual report on the modernization of the country's fuel and energy complex and the implementation of integrated energy projects.

The statement says that President Tokayev instructed to keep under special control the process of modernization of the thermal power infrastructure. In addition, it was stated that Tokayev drew attention to the acceleration of the nuclear power plant construction process.

In a referendum held on October 6, more than 70% of voters voted "for", supporting the construction of the country's first nuclear power plant.
