Heads of intelligence agencies of the Commonwealth of Independent States gathered in Bishkek

The 54th meeting of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of the member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.

The meeting, organized by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Chairman of the State Committee for National Security Kamchybek Tashiev, was attended by Director of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia Alexander Bortnikov, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin, Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ermek Sagimbayev, Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan Saimumin Yatimov, Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan security services of Uzbekistan Abdusalomazizov, Chairman of the State National Security Service of Belarus, Chairman of the Security Committee Ivan Tertel, Chairman of the State Security Service of Azerbaijan Ali Nagiyev, Deputy Head of the National Security Service of Armenia Samvel Hayrapetyan and Chairman of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of the CIS member states Evgeny Isoev took part in it.

According to the Kyrgyz press, reports aimed at improving the exchange of information in the field of combating terrorism and religious extremism were presented at the meeting. In addition, attention was drawn to the security of the borders of neighboring countries, the impact of Russia's war with Ukraine on the border regions of Russia, as well as the impact of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on the countries of Central Asia.

On the other hand, according to the statement of the press center of the Office of the President of Kyrgyzstan, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov met with the heads of intelligence services of the CIS member states at the State Residence of the President of Ala-Archa.

Stressing that the Council's decisions are a commitment to ensuring the security of the CIS member states, Zhaparov said: "I believe that the outcome of the 54th session of the Council will create the necessary conditions for further strengthening and deepening joint cooperation."

During the meeting, FSB Director Bortnikov said: "It is necessary to develop common approaches to assessing threats to the security of the CIS countries and increase the effectiveness of cooperation between special services in order to neutralize them."
