An international scientific and methodological conference on "Spiritual values and cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples" was held in Kazakhstan.


An international scientific and methodological conference on "Spiritual values and cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples" was held in Kazakhstan.

The conference was organized by the Foundation of Turkic Culture and Heritage in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan. The event was held in the Tamgali Nature Reserve-Museum in Southern Kazakhstan. The conference was attended by representatives of the Foundation of Turkic Culture and Heritage, among whom were present Raimkulova Aktoty, Advisor to the President of Kazakhstan on Cultural Issues Malik Otarbayev, Chairman of the Committee of Culture of the Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan Kyumis Seyitova, as well as leading historians, archaeologists and restorers from Kazakhstan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

Chairman of the Foundation for Turkic Culture and Heritage Raimkulova noted in her speech that the conference was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the inclusion of Tamgaly petroglyphs in the UNESCO World Heritage List. She stressed that the Tamgaly petroglyphs are the common heritage of all Turkic peoples, and the purpose of the conference was to discuss issues of preservation and restoration of common historical and cultural heritages in other participating countries.

Otarbayev also conveyed greetings of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the participants of the conference, emphasizing the important role of the Turkic peoples in the formation of world civilization and the importance of the meeting of outstanding specialists from the Turkic world.

The conference was also attended by professor-archaeologist from Kazakhstan Baurzhan Baitanaev with a report "Sacred monuments of Kazakhstan", director of the Gobustan National Park from Azerbaijan Vugar Isaev with the topic "New approaches in the study of stone art of Gobustan" and professor-architect from Uzbekistan Mavlyuda Aminjanova with a report "Features of the educational institution for restoration in Uzbekistan and current conservation problems monuments in the Turkic world".

The conference included two panels. Also within the framework of the event, the first meeting of the Board of Advisors of the Foundation for Turkic Culture and Heritage was held, dedicated to discussing issues of preservation and restoration of architectural monuments in the Turkic world.

The conference participants also made a scientific excursion to the Tamgaly petroglyphs, and also visited historical monuments of the region, including the Kulan ancient fortress in Taraz and the Esik kurgan, where the first "golden man" was found.
