At the International Forum held in Turkmenistan on the eve of the Neutrality Day, the importance of international dialogue as a guarantee of peace and the country's neutrality strategy was emphasized.

On the eve of the day of neutrality, an international forum entitled "Dialogue – a guarantee of peace" was held in Turkmenistan.

The forum, held at the Institute of International Relations in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, representatives of the United Nations (UN) delegation in Ashgabat, representatives of diplomatic missions in the country, rectors of higher educational institutions and numerous students.

Before the forum, the guests visited the exhibition in the foyer of the Institute, where stands of countries with embassies in Turkmenistan are located. During the visit to the Turkish stand, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Meredov and his accompanying delegation served Turkish coffee and Turkish delight.

In his opening speech, Turkmen Foreign Minister Meredov drew attention to the importance of the country's neutrality.

Meredov stated that the country adheres to the strategy of neutrality in foreign policy and supports the use of political and diplomatic methods aimed at peace, security, mutual understanding and solving emerging problems in the region and in the international arena.

Seyran Nuriyev, a lecturer at the Institute of International Relations, recalled that December 12 was declared the "International Day of Neutrality" all over the world, and noted that various events were held in Turkmenistan on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of Neutrality, and that significant successes in the economy and diplomacy had been achieved in the country during this period.

On December 6 of this year, at the 45th plenary session of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, the initiative put forward by Turkmenistan received support, as a result of which the Resolution "2023 is the International Year of Dialogue as a Guarantee of Peace" was unanimously adopted.
