A meeting of the Group "Strategic Vision: Russia - the Islamic World" was held in Moscow

 The group of Strategic vision Russia-the Islamic World gathered in Moscow with broad participation.

The meeting, organized by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation A.I.Rudenko at the Ministry, was attended by Chairman of the Russia– Islamic World Strategic Vision Group, Head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Turkish Ambassador to Moscow Tanju Bilgic, ambassadors of Islamic countries, Adviser on Religious Affairs of the Turkish Embassy in Moscow Omer Faruk Savuran, officials the Federal District and representatives of religious associations of Russia.

In a video message to the participants of the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin stressed that great cooperation has been achieved between Russia and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), including within the framework of the International Economic Forum "Russia – the Islamic World: KazanForum 2024".

"These studies are designed to give additional dynamics to our country's cooperation with Muslim states," Khusnullin said.

Rudenko: "Russia attaches great importance to friendly relations with Islamic countries"

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Rudenko said that Russia has an understanding of strengthening various ties with Islamic countries and said:

"Russia is a multinational and multi–confessional country that traditionally maintains trusting, close relations with Muslim states, including within the framework of the OIC. We attach great importance to strengthening the bonds of friendship between the Russian Federation and the OIC."

Noting with satisfaction that almost 20 years of joint work have yielded significant results after Russia received the status of an "observer" in the OIC, Rudenko said: "A stable political dialogue has been established on topical issues on the international agenda, and today the Middle East topic has rightfully come to the fore."

Rustam Minnikhanov: "We are very concerned about the humanitarian disaster in Gaza"

The Head of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, Rustam Minnikhanov, pointed out that expanding cooperation with Islamic countries is one of the priorities of Russia's foreign policy, and explained that cooperation with Islamic countries has acquired special importance in the context of crisis phenomena in international relations in difficult times today.

Stressing that Russia is seriously concerned about the worsening situation in the Middle East, the bloody clashes in the Gaza Strip, the death of many people and a major humanitarian disaster, Rustam Minnikhanov said: "On issues of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Russia has always advocated the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions, primarily aimed at creating an independent and sovereign Palestinian state."

Recalling that the repeated actions of burning the Koran in Sweden and Denmark in 2023 caused a great wave of anger in the Islamic world, Rustam Minnikhanov said: "These events were strongly condemned in Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin called such actions a crime. The Russian Orthodox Church called them unacceptable vandalism," he said.

Rustam Minnikhanov informed the participants about the results of last year's activities of the Russia– Islamic World Strategic Vision Group and informed about plans for joint work for 2024, and also said that the group would hold a special event in Kazan with the agenda "Russia – the Islamic World: a just, multipolar world order and secure development."

Deputy Chairman of the Strategic Vision Group, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs of the Upper House of the Russian Parliament Farit Mukhametshin and Head of the Investment Development Agency of the Republic of Tatarstan Taliya Minullina also made presentations to the participants.
