A forum on transport and transit corridors was held in Turkmenistan
The potential and infrastructure of the Eurasian transport corridors were discussed at the Forum in the capital Ashgabat.
40 countries took part in the forum, organized by the Agency of Transport and Communications of Turkmenistan. The Forum was attended by Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey Durmush Yunivar, as well as representatives of transport companies and heads of senior financial institutions. The Forum also brought together stakeholders in the logistics sector from the Ashgabat Chamber of Commerce and Industry. New opportunities for cooperation were discussed at the forum.
Turkey's contribution to world trade
Speaking at the forum, Durmush Yunivar said that Turkey contributes to world trade with its investments in transport. "Over the past 20 years, $280 billion worth of investments have been invested in transport projects," he said.
Mammetkhan Chakiyev, Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications of Turkmenistan, in turn, said that suitable infrastructure conditions have been created that will facilitate economic communication and commodity exchange.
The Forum explained the geopolitical importance of Turkmenistan in the East-West and North-South corridors, discussed sustainable practices in transport infrastructure and the impact of digitalization on logistics. Within the framework of the forum, industry representatives appreciated the new opportunities for cooperation.
