The famous Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov was remembered at his grave in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, on the day of the 16th anniversary of his death.

The writer's family, relatives and colleagues who came to the grave prayed. At the grave, the students revived some of Aitmatov's works and played the Kyrgyz musical instrument komuz.

The writer's sister Rosa Aitmatova noted that 16 years have passed since his departure and said: "We have come to honor his memory. I am very grateful to those who do not forget him. I am very pleased with his fans."

She noted that her brother's works touch on such important topics as beautiful ideas, human relationships, interaction and an approach to problem solving. "I hope that humanity takes into account the writer's ideas," she added.

A friend from the writer's circle of friends, Erlan Chamgyrchiev, expressed pride in his acquaintance with Aitmatov, saying: "A man like Aitmatov appears once in a thousand years. His works will live for thousands of years. We made a short film about the writer. We are currently working on translating it into Turkish."

Lawyer Doolotbek Shadybekov, who is also familiar with the writer and has worked on many projects, spoke about his pride that Turkey, the Turkish people and the Turkish world respect Aitmatov, preserve his works and erect his monuments in parks.

Historian Doolotbek Saparaliev said that he, together with the rector of Manas University, Professor Alpaslan Ceylan, prepared the book "The Pride of the Kyrgyz and the Turkish world - Chingiz Aitmatov".

Chingiz Aitmatov, who was born on December 12, 1928 in the village of Sheker in the Talas region, died on June 10, 2008 in Germany after falling ill during the filming of a documentary by a Russian TV channel in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan.
