The 2nd meeting of the Council of Chief Prosecutors of the Organization of Turkish States was held in Ankara
On October 23, 2023, the 2nd meeting of the Council of Chief Prosecutors of the Organization of Turkish States was held in Ankara on the topic "Legal regulation, practice of countries, problems and solutions concerning international legal assistance".
It was attended by the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Prosecutor General of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Turkey and the Chief Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Turkey, as well as the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States and the Chairman of the Council of Elders, the Prosecutor General of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the Executive Director and General Counsel of the International Association of Prosecutors.
In his speech at the meeting, the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, stressed that the current meeting of the Council of Prosecutors of the Organization of Turkic States will contribute to further strengthening cooperation between prosecutors and the development of exchange of experience and expressed the readiness of the Secretariat of the OTG to support cooperation activities within the framework of the Council of Chief Prosecutors of the OTG. At the same time, he proposed to create an "action plan" that would include activities between the Prosecutor General's Offices and ensure the necessary follow-up and reporting at the OTG summits, and in this context, an "expert group" should be created, consisting of one expert from each side and the Secretariat, to work together on the implementation of decisions adopted by the expert group.
The participants provided information on the activities of the Prosecutor General's Offices at the bilateral and multilateral levels and stressed the importance of cooperation within the framework of the OTG.
In addition, the parties agreed to change the name and logo of the TDT Council of Prosecutors in connection with the change of the name of the organization from "Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking Countries" to "Organization of Turkic States" in 2021. The parties also agreed that, at the initiative of the Kyrgyz side, the next 3rd meeting of the TDT Council of Prosecutors will be held in the Kyrgyz Republic in 2024.
